Meet Our Team- Heather
Social Media Specialist
Heather has always been passionate about wildlife, which led her to complete a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology at the University of Guelph. Through this time, she focused on biological conservation, ornithology, and field ecology. Growing up, her family always had backyard bird feeders and she was able to grow to appreciate and love and presence of Ontario birds. Living rurally, she has always been exposed to an ample amount of wildlife including a wide range of backyard bird visitors.
She has previously occupied roles as a Species at Risk Educator and is very passionate about helping others learn about Ontario wildlife. This has led her to work with Toronto Wildlife Centre in completing her Masters of Environmental Studies while concurrently earning a diploma in Environmental and Sustainability Education from York University. Heather believes that education is a key tool in helping people love and appreciate nature.
Further, she is excited about the potential of social media platforms to bring people together around a cause or interest. One of the reasons she loves the use of social media marketing and presence is the ability to create a community. She is excited to join the team as a Social Media Specialist.
When not occupying one of her roles, Heather enjoys travelling and spending time within nature and experiencing wildlife in other parts of the world, including volunteering at Elephant sanctuaries in Asia. Further, she enjoys running along lakeshore, watching birds in her backyard and spending time with friends and family.
