Meet Our Team - Lillian
Certified Bird Feeding Specialist
Growing up in the outskirts of Barrie allowed Lillian’s obsession with naturalism to flourish. From having nesting Green Herons in her backyard every spring, to the fish she would reel in at her nearby creek, the butterflies she’s raised and the mushrooms she’s picked; Lillian is an enthusiastic naturalist, ready to share information with anyone that’ll ask or listen. Lillian is constantly blazing through new trails, always looking for something new to add to her life list. From bees and wasps, to the birds that eat them, she wants and needs to see it all!
Getting into birding can seem daunting, but at WBU she hopes to show others that anyone can be a birder or naturalist, no matter where you’re from, your age or your ability. She hopes to inspire others to keep their inner child alive and keep the wonder of adventure in their lives. Life, no matter how small, has huge meaning. In an environment that is constantly shifting and changing, we can feel small & powerless as natural life leaves our cities. Lillian believes we shouldn’t lose hope. Small changes to your yard, such as removing lawn & restoring native habitats to provide food, shelter, and a place to rest during busy migration seasons are a great way to start. If we start small and work together, we will see big changes for the better. Lillian is also an artist whose work is reflective of the nature she sees and the music/bird song she hears. With synesthesia, she mimics the shape and colour of sound. Much of her work is influenced by native wildflowers that feed our wildlife, as well as the wild and perfectly imperfect patterns that we wouldn’t notice without looking closer.
