Although Carrie has had a love for all nature since she was a little girl, it was during the Covid-19 pandemic that she truly realized just how therapeutic sitting back and watching nature was to her. The frequent visits from the birds brought her so much happiness. She was also lucky enough to witness a family of baby squirrels leaving their nest for the first time in their lives – so curious and brave, playing high up in the neighbours’ trees; a once in a lifetime experience!

Carrie loves to share her experiences and love of nature with others and working at Wild Birds Unlimited Barrie gives her the opportunity to do so.

Favourite Bird Experience: one of her most memorable experiences was during a holiday on Vancouver Island; it was springtime when she walked through a park with a very busy Blue Heron rookery. Walking through the tall trees, passing the giant hatched shells on the ground and listening to the calls of the herons and hearing the beats of their wings as they took off from the nest was like being transported back in time to a prehistoric era!
