2018 February Woodpecker Walk

NOW FULL - Woodpeckers of Simcoe County Guided Walk - Sunday, February 11, 2018

Let's go on a bird walk! Join us on Sunday, February 11, 2018 for a guided Bird Walk in search of woodpeckers and other winter birds. We will visit two winter bird hotspots, the Gables and Minet's Point. We hope to find four species of local woodpeckers (Downy, Hairy, Pileated and Red-bellied) as well as winter birds including Northern Cardinals, Dark-eyed Juncos, American Tree Sparrows, White-breasted Nuthatches, Red-breasted Nuthatches, American Goldfinches and if we're really lucky, maybe even an Barred Owl! At Minet's Point a wide variety of waterfowl are possible. Led by WBU Barrie's very own Kristen Martyn, the tour will begin at our store at 8 a.m. with a brief intro on Woodpeckers, including how to attract them and what to look for while on the walk. We will then travel to begin our walk! Pre-registration is required as space is limited to a maximum of 10 people. Please dress for the weather and make sure to bring a pair of binoculars, water, snacks and  camera (if you wish).  Walk is now FULL - please email wbubarrie@gmail.com to join the wait list.
