A Note About Participation in Our Bird Walks: Due to high demand and in an effort to be fair to everyone, priority registration for bird walks will be given to people who have not participated in a walk during a given calendar year. Previous participants from other walks are welcome to go on a waiting list and may be added if room allows. At this time bird walks are open to adults only.

Come and join us on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. to learn all about Nuthatches and how to attract them to your yard. Nuthatches are probably one of the easiest backyard birds to identify... if you see a bird creeping downward on a tree, it's a nuthatch! It's the only species that can "walk down a tree." It needs no tail support because it has incredibly strong feet. Did you know - the name Nuthatch results from the corruption of the word "nuthack" which refers to its habit of hacking away at a seed with its beak until it opens. This free presentation will focus on the two nuthatch species commonly found in Simcoe County, the White-breasted and the Red-breasted Nuthatch, and is a must hear for anyone who enjoys nuthatches or wishes to attract them into their yard.  No registration required.
